Effective Peer Editing
1. STRUCTURE
- If it is an essay, are there 5 paragraphs?
- If it is a paragraph, is it only one paragraph?
- Is it set up in point, proof, comment form?
2. SPELLING/GRAMMAR/PUNCTUATION
- Look for capitalization.
- Check punctuation (remember - a comma is not a period).
- Grammar!!!
- There is no "I" in here.
- Can not use can't or any other contraction.
3. MLA FORMAT
- Check in-text parenthetical citations.
- Quote integration.
- Works Cited.
- Check against the MLA format sheet (ie. title, spacing, header, etc.)
4. DOES IT MAKE SENSE?
